Memory Boxes

We have Memory Boxes in place for all our Residents at both homes and have been busy filling the Boxes with items of personal meaning and with the purpose to bring back happy times for them. The families have had input and have been sharing personal belongings from their loved ones.  A couple of our Residents have told our Activities Co-Ordinator “That they thought the boxes are lovely and  brought back many happy memories for them”. The purpose of the boxes are to stimulate the senses which will then encourage creativity and more brain activity and can even calm some agitated Residents and prompt them into conversation, they can recall faces from the past and memorable events too. We are always adding memorable items to their boxes and its lovely to engage with them and have wonderful conversations about their past and they always enjoy chatting about it too with our Activity Co-Ordinator.
